On Wednesday 6 August, our Managing Director Reena Van Aalst, joined a panel of respected industry leaders at the REINSW Strata Sundowner – Connect & Learn event, held at the Ace Hotel in Sydney.

The evening brought together strata professionals from across New South Wales for an engaging mix of networking, professional development, and forward-focused discussion. With the 2025 strata reforms already beginning to shape the industry, this was a timely opportunity to share knowledge and explore practical ways to navigate the changes.

Reena was joined on the panel by Thomas McGlynn – REINSW President, Pete Matthews – Reform Advocate, Kate McHugh – Co-founder, Strata Futures Initiative and David Glover – Managing Director, Owners Corporation Network.

The discussion was introduced by Nicole Unger, General Counsel at REINSW, who provided a strong legal and policy foundation for the conversation. From there, the panel delved into what these reforms mean on the ground, offering real-world examples, diverse perspectives, and practical advice that attendees could take back to their own organisations.

For Reena, the event was a chance to not only share insights from her experience at My Strata Central, but also to hear directly from others in the field — from fellow strata managers to property professionals and advocates. This exchange of ideas is what makes events like the Strata Sundowner so valuable.

“These reforms are significant and far-reaching. Bringing the industry together to discuss their impact helps us ensure we’re moving forward in a way that’s both informed and collaborative,” says Reena.

Alongside the panel discussion, attendees enjoyed drinks and canapés while making new connections and strengthening existing professional relationships. The event also offered CPD hours, making it a win-win for those looking to grow both their knowledge and their networks.

A big thank you to REINSW for hosting such a relevant and engaging evening, and to the event sponsors CRM Brokers, Kolmeo and REI Super for their support in making it happen.
